UNITARIAN CHURCHES
CONFERENCE OPENED,
A conference of representatives of the Unitarian Churches of New Zealand wag opened at Wellington this afternoon. It is three years since the last conference was held. The president of the New Zealand Unitarian Association of New Zealand, Mr. J. M. Geddis, presided, and members attended from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Timaru. In his opening address, the president mentioned, that he had recently returned from a visit, to Australia, where, at the invitation of the Melbourne and Sydney Unitarian Churches, he delivered addresses—advocating closer, -relations being'maintained hetween the*:churches in Australia and New Zealand, and suggested that a triennial conference be held. This suggestion was received with •approval in both cities. The conference sermon this evening will be delivered by the Eev. William Jelly, of Timaru, the subject heing "The Unitarian Protest." The conference will resume to-morrow morning, and will conclude in the afternoon.
