KING'S THEATRE.

Who amongst novel readers has not read and enjoye-1 Peter B. Kyne's delicious stories of strong men and beautiful women, introduced into plots of •varied interest? Many of these stories have been picturised, the latest of which is now being shown at the Kind's Theatre under the title of "The Go-'Getter." It is a story o£ modern business life, probably the best so far written, and stars T. Boy Barnes; Lena Owen, William Norris, and Tom Lewis. In the story a man mixes business and pleasure without any ill-effects on the business. Returning disabled from the Great War, Bill Peck, contrary to the generally accepted idea, is hot downhearted, but sets out to build up his fortune. Prior to the war he had been a lumber salesman, and he now determinos to return to that business. His good humour, grit, and sheer push carry him far on tne road to success, and eventually N he loves and marries the daughter of -the general manager. Barnes ia an admirable hero for such a play, carrying through the role with dash and a winning smile. Mis* Lena Owen plays opposite the star, giving a delightful characterisation. - The picture is full of thrills, which include aerial scenes never' before screened in a picture of this land, and a- race by night between an aeroplane and an express train. The supports are most interesting, and include a gazette of world happenings and a fine travelogue. As usual at this theatre, special attention lias been paid to the music by Mr. ~- D-.Austin, and under his leadership the King s Select Orchestra plays many fine selections, including ''High Jinks" (Frim), "The-Enchanted Irke" (TschaiWvßkij,' "Slavonik Dance No. 2" (Dvorak), and Chopin's .'"Mazurka, No. ,°i. A matinee is being given this afternoon before a large attendance, and the programme will be repeated this evening. ■
