FORMED AT PBTONE,

. The formation of a Caledonian Society m Petone was deoided on at a publio meeting held this week. Mr. ,N. Bertram presided over an attendance of about (U people, among which were six directors from the Wellington Society. Mr. J. ■K-yle was appointed secretary. After the aims and objects of the society had been fully discussed and all' available information given by the directors from. Wellington,, the rules which govern the city society were read and explained. It. was decided to form a society in the district, to be known as' the Hutt Valley Caledonian Society. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Chief, Mr. N. Bertram, chieftains, Messrs. D. Wood and J. C. Cordiner; general secretary, Mr. John Kyle; treasurer, Mr D. Wood; board of directors, Messrs. Jvyle. Harris, Wood, Cordiner, M'Whirter, Bertram.. Grefror, Mulgrew,' Walker,' Wight, Colvillo, Adams. Ritchie, Robertson, and Watt; social and vigilance committees, Mesdames Harris, Saunders, Kyle, Wood ColviUe, Gregory, Harris (senior). Baker, Dewart. Sharpe,.
