"THE WHEEL OF LIFE"

NOVEL ENTERTAINMENT AT TOWN HALL.

With the very worthy object of assisting the Boys 1 Hostel Fund in connection with Canon Feilden Taylor's Mission aa entertainment on distinctly novel lines and rejoicing m the somewhat mysterious name of "The Wheel of Life," was given at the Town Hall last evening. Ine title, it was found, owed its origin lights, each manipulated by a group of a number of revolving wheels of colouredlights, each manipulated by agroup of young ladies suitably attired. . The entertainment last evening was opened' by the Mayor (Mr. E. A. Wright), who referred to the excellent work that was being done in Wellington by Canon Taylor. Wellington had a growing population and as it grew so did the need for work of the character performedrJby Mr. Taylor increase. Finance was needed, and that was the. reason for the entertainment, towards the success 'of which several of Wellington's leading firms had contributed not a little. Ihe main feature of last evening's entertainment, was a series of tableaux arranged by the Misses Youmans. Each tableaux involved the grouping of So m 9 oG or 60 young people, and the effect was one that will be remembered for some.time to come. Great credit was certainly reflected on those responsible for the arrangements. Last evenine's ta.Pl? a"x included the visit of the' Queen of Sheba to King Solomon (in the course of which Miss Ngaire Phipson gave a particularly graceful dance), the wellknown incident in history where Sir Walter Ealeigh gallantly sacrifices a very good cloak in order that Queen Elizabeth may suffer no inconvenience ,v at- fe.f 0"?'
