MISS STELLA POWER
ANOTHER BRILLIANT CONCERT.
• Miss Stella Power is a- vocalist who is by no means afraid of work. She has already, given five concerts in Wellington and two more are still to come—tonight and on Saturday. Her concert last evening was the fifth of the'series, and her selection of songs was equally as nappy as that at her previous recitals. Miss Power's opening number was the delightful aria from "Norma," "Casta Diva che Inargenti" (Bellini), and it was in this selection' that the gifted soprano was really at her best. Two lilting French songs, "Romance" (Debussy) and "Les Anges Pleurent" (Benberg) were also rendered in charming manner, and she was equally effective in Montague Phillips's "Song Joyous second parts of the programme were Bird," and Liza Lehman's "The Wi-eii.j' Her concluding number was Benberg's ■raise song, "Nympthes and Sylvairis." Miss Power's recalls last evening included "Pierrot," a selection from "Romeo and Juliet," "Annie Laurie," and "Will o' the Wisp." The first and second parts of t.he programme -were opened in acceptable manner by Mr. Harold Beck, the accomplished violon- | cellist. His numbers included "Tempo di Minnetto" (Pugani-Kreisler). "Orientale" (Cesar Cvi), "Serenade" (David Popper), "Cradle Song" (Schubert), and "Guiltarre" (Moskowski). Mr. Beck was enthusiastically recalled after l?oth appearances. Mr. William ■ James, a pianist of rare capabilities played RachmaninofFs "Prelude in G Minor," Debussy's "Arabesque No. 2," and Mangiagalbvs "Improvisanda," and "Toccata." , Miss Stella Power will give her sixth .concert . to-night, when slie will sing iUflzart s beautiful aria, "Dove So.n^," "R.;! Rafigio," from. Semirainide (K>ssir,i,\, :<; Arditi's popular "Se Saram Koi.e, - Chanson Triete" (Dupare), "Ch.int. Hindou" (Rimsky-Koreskov) "A Little- Bunch of Snowdrops'"; (M- Phillips), "At the Well" (Richard Hagemann), etc. Mr. William :James will contrihu*© pianoforte solos,' tend Mr. Harold Keck will be the .'cellist.
