A deputation of motor body builders asked the Tariff Board not to grant the request of a motor trade deputation,which sought a reduction in the duties on car bodies. The speakers pointed out that a large number of completed cars were being landed in Australia, notwithstanding the existing duties. ~ The board promised to protect the interest of the local industry when it was investigating the matter.
