INVERCARGILL, 31st October. The Birchwood Hunt Meeting was held in fine . weather -on the Invercargill course. The course was slightly holding. The attendance was excellent and the totalisatcr-handled £8485, or double the amount when the me sting was held at Otautau.

Hunters' Hurdles, of 60 soys; onr mile, .and a half:—Taproot, 10.0, 1: Rapid.River, 10.7, 2; Rorigahere, 10.0. 3. Also started: Dorian 10.0. Won by six lengths. Time, 3min lsec. ■Wallace Hack Handicap, of 70 soys: six furlongs.—Andante, 8.11, 1; Coastguard, 8.1, 2; Snowfall, 8.7, 3. Also started: Maytime 8.11, July Spark 8.7, Bonny Princess 8.0,, Fairy Rings 8.0, Mountain Dew 8.0, Obligio 8.0. Won by a length., Time, Imin 20sec. Gardner Memorial Steeplechase, of 70 soys; two miles.—lsla. Bank, 11.4, 1; Greenstone, 9.7, 2.; Mickey Free, 9.7, 3. Also started: Lady Chicken 9.7, General Stalker 9.7. The last named won by two lengths, with Greenstone five lengths away. An inquiry was held after the race, and it was decided that General Stalker ran outside the flag, and he was according deprived of first money, Mickey Free securing third place. President's Handicap, of 90 soys; one mile.—Royal Admiral, 10.0, 1; Counterstroke, 8.5, 2: San Salvadoiv«,7.o, 3. Also started: Listening Post 9.9, ViceGrand 8.3, . Francaise 7.13.
