DOMINION PREMIERS EXPRESS REGRET.

(REDTER'S TELEGRAM.) (Received 31st October, noon.) . . LONDON, 30th October. Mr. S. M. Bruce (Australia), General Smuts (South Africa), and Mr. Mackenzie King (Canada), in messages to the Press, express their deep sorrow and regret at the death of Mr. Bonar Law. They pay the highest tributes to his services and sacrifices on behalf of the Empire. _ Mr. Bruce says: "He took the helm m an hour of unparalleled difficulty, when he must have known that his task would exact the supreme sacrifice. We have seen no nobler courage and no more gallant self-sacrifice than his." General Smuts says: "His partnership with Mr. Lloyd George was of priceless value to the country and the world. In the later years of the war their qualities were complementary. •Mr. Lloyd George had initiative, fire, and resource, while Mr. Bonar Law supplied wisdom and moderation. His shrewd, canny Scotch temper was necessary to complete and offset Mr. Lloyd George 8 great qualities. Their combination at a critical moment proved the most powerful that Britain had ever had in public life." Mr W. F.
