THE HAYWARD VULCANISING WORKS, Rangitikti Street, Palmenton N.

"Eubber" goods, including the pneumatic tire, has come to stay, and play an important part in the everyday life of every man, woman, and child in the universe. If anyone dared to contradict that statement let him visit the Haywood Vulcanising Works in Eangitikei street, where all forms of rubberware from the humble household wringer to the biggest motor tire made is exhibited; Some new, some old, the latter literally piled high, awaiting its turn to be treated by the latest process of vulcanising and thus become rejuvenated, and given a renewed lease of life, enabling it to be again used on pleasure and business cars or on the more sturdy bus or lorry so much in evidence nowadays for the transport of goods. A feature of the Haywood method of vulcanising is that a tire properly treated in this way gives them double life. Mr. Palmer, the proprietor, has given vulcanising and motor tire business close study, for many years, and his rapidly expanding trade is strong evidence that the public appreciate to tho full his efforts on their behalf. A specialty is made of the supply of tires, and only the best class are given shop room. The famous Goodyear cord tire, for which Mr. Palmer is the agent, pre-» dominates in numbers and popularity, and in this line he does phenomenal business. There is a reason for this, of course, and it isn't far to seek. The public's favour stands firm behind the Uoodyear cord tire. It has the reputation, and it stands up to it in good style. | We will prove it. The Palmerston North municipal bus authorities searched high and low for some means of lessening tho running cost of the busses, and after exhaustive trials and numerous failures it was decided to accord the Goodyear diamond tread tires their patronage; with the result that every bus is nowequipped with them, and three months' constant wear has proved their superiority over all other makes. The tire expenses have been cut in half, and the manager's worries hare faded completely into oblivion.. What Mr. Palmer and the Goodyear tire has done for the Municipal Bus Service he can do for you. Poor tires are-no economy, either to use or sell. The Goodyear tire will give you excellent service. Their great value lies in the fact that, being highly resilient, they are more economical- in power. One man can shift the biggest car made if fitted with Goodyear cord, diamond tread, tires. Try to do this on your own where other tires are fitted, j and you wouldn't succeed.

" MOOSE" BRAND LINSEED OILCAKE.

The important part played in the dairy industry, of Denmark by the use of concentrated foodstuffs is now being recognised by New Zealand farmers, who are therefore turning their attention to artificial foods as a valuable aid to increased milk production. In the off-sea-son also, farmer's are beginning to realise the vital need of feeding a small concentrated ration to enable the cow to maintain her vigour, and to face the milking season in a fit condition to produce to her best capacity, right from the start. . I AN EXPERT'S OPINION. Probably there is no greater expert in New Zealand on dairying stock than Hi. A. H. Cockayne, of the Depart-' merit of Agriculture. He states that it is in the adequate feeding of the cows that the greatest advance can be made at the present time by the New Zealand dairy farmers. The severe winter we have .just experienced has brought this truth home to many farmers. Feed has been so scarce that many cows have come to calving in a weak condition and are only now getting back to normal.' This loss could easily have been avoided at a small cost if the cows had received some extra sustaining food in the harsh months. They would have produced a better nourished calf, and their, milk production would have been higher from the start. A NEW INDUSTRY. Linseed oilcake is,the food material that is the basis of milk production, both in Denmark and in the United Kingdom—in fact, it is the universal concentrated foodstuff employed in the dairy industry. A very line "factory for the manufacture of Linseed Oilcako was established at Westfield some years airo by the New Zealand Cattlecuke and Oil Company, Ltd., of Auckland, whose product is sold under the well-known Moose brand. The meal is ground very tine, and in this form is particularly adapted to calf-feeding; it is also made in the form of Moose Nuts, which are best suited for feeding to cows. I STRIKING RESULTS. Remarkable results have been achieved in the feeding of STooee Meal and Nuts, and the company has received from leading dairyfarmers all over New Zealand some very fine testimonials, copies of which it will be glad to forward to anyone interested. Not only did the butterfat production increase, but the cows became stronger in stamina, and sounder in constitution. Its high protein content, which goes toward "the development of flesh or milk-forming material, makes Moose Meal a particularly fine food for calves. An important point to remember also is that Linseed Oilcake is one of the best feeds available in regard to manurial value, as quite 25 per cent, of its cost is returned., in the improvement in the pasture, especially where the pasture is gone over regularly with chain or tripod harrows. SOME ACTUAL EXPERIENCES. The New - Zealand Caltleeake and .Oil Company, Ltd.,- whose address is Eudean's Auckland, has prepared a yifluuble-.booklet, entitled "The •Propei-j Feeding--of,. Livestock," which -it will, be-glad, to :Send', of ccsty to? anyone interested. 7 , T,hc, actual' ex'peri-" oiices of lending .daily :f;u-niers are set out in detail, and some valuable' kdvice on th» fosdivsjj of dairy cr>w«,,.and also on . calf-reariiig, is set out at" considerable' lepgtb. , ". ."
