(BY TELEOBArH.—SPECIAL TO THE POST.J PALMERSTON N., This Day, At the Police Court yesterday three men were fined £2 and costs for being found on licensed premises when such were required to be closed. Mr. Peter Scheldt, who passed away at Bunnythorpe yesterday, aged 78 years, was one of the oldest Tesidents of the district. He came to New Zealand in 1876, and after living in Palmerston North for a time, made his home in Bunnythorpe. His wife died 12 years ago, and six daughters and three sons are left to mourn their loss. Mr. J. Aitchison, formerly a resident of Palmerston North, but who has for some time past been residing in. Auckland, has returned to this district. The Kai Toa Rugby Football Club held a smoke concert for the closing of the season, when there was a good attendance of members and supporters of the club. During the evening the secretary, Mr. M. Comber, was presented with a gold-mounted fountain pen in recognition of his services during the past season. The Bowden medal for the most improved player, was presented to S. Bell. Three juveniles came before Mr. J. L. Stout,. S.M., yesterday, on a charge of stealing £2 in money and a gold watch valued at £7. The case was adjourned for 12 months, during which time the'lads will ,be under the supervision of the Juvenile Probation Officer. The parents were ordered to make restitution of the money and the watch.
