STELLA POWER
FOURTH RECITAL.
Miss Stella Power, the 'brilliant young Australian coloratura soprano, achieved anotßfcr vocal triumph at the- Town Hall last evening, at her fourth concert. The audience was quick to «how its appreciation of the rich voice, and there was genuine sincerity in the numerous recalls. .. Miss Power displayed the utmost beauties of her wonderful voice, and at the same time the height of her technical ability in the opening number, the florid bravura aria, "Un» Voee Poco Fa," from Rossini'g "Barber of Seville." After that she went from one success to another, operatic excerpt and ballad being received with similar demonstration by the audience. Miss Power's other offerings included the "Mad Scene" aria from "Ducia di Lammermoor" (assisted by Signer A. P. Truda with flute obbligato), the beautiful "Depuis le Jour" from "Loiifise" (Charpentier). Liza f*hroann's "Cuckoo," Rummell's "Ecstasy," Molly Carew's "Piper of Love,'" Careys "Spring Morning," "Down in the Forest" lEonald), "Lo, Here the Gentle Lark" (Bishop), again assisted by Signor Truda, and "Minnetonka." Mr. Harold Beck, the gifted New Zealand 'cellist, played artistically "Melodic Arabe" (Glazoujiov). "Orientale" (Cesar Cvi), "Serenade," and "Harlequin (Popper), "Ab«ndlied" ■ (Schum,?nn)>_ "Scherzo (Van Goems), an d Son Tre Giorni" (Pergolesi) In masterly manner the pianist of the party, Mr. William James, • gave "Poupee Valsante" (Poldini), "Le Coucou" (Daquin), "Scherzo" (Scarlatti), Minuet and Trio, Op. 31 (Beethoven), "Gepak"' (xMoussorgeki), "D Flat Walte" (Chopin), and "Gatinor'Prelude" (Rachmaninoff). As accompanist he subdued his instrument admirably to the solo performers. THREE EXTRA CONCERTS. Mr. E. J. Gravestock announces arrangement* for Mi« Stelk p ower to give three extra concerts in tbe Town Hall Concert Chamber, as the Urge ball is not available, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings next.
