EVENING MEETING

•VARSITY CLUB MAKES A START.

The first evening sports meeting of the amateur athletic season waß held at Kettrarn Park last evening, under the auspices of the Victoria University A.A. ,Club. The programme, -which comprised five events, provided good sport for a large gathering- of spectators, most o! the events with large fields being keenly contested. The competitors included some of last season's prominent athletes and a number of new runners of much, promise. The weather conditions and the track were good, and, generally, the performances were creditable. Ofncialß were as follow:—Starter, Mr. J. O'Sullivun; referee, Mr. A. C. Kitto; judges, Messrs. A.
