INTERNATIONAL RACE

J. B. JOEL'S OPINION,

NEW YOBK, 13th October. Papyrus covered a mile and a half easily in 2min 39 3-ssec at to-day's work-out. Javia, contrary to expectation, kept the kidney blanket upon the horse, whose soreness and slight lameness have gone. Papyrus finished strong, with plenty of speed behind him.

Mr. J. B. Joel, the well-known British .turf man, predicted before sailing to-day that the international horse Tace between Papyrus and Zev, fixed for next Saturday,' would have to be post-. poned or cancelled because of the condition of Papyrus. Mr. Joel, who released the jockey Donoghue to ride Papyrus, said he had abandoned his intention to witness the race, because its sporting quality had been taken away by the inequality of the horses. He understood that Papyrus was in bad condition, and would carry greater weight than Zev.
