PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AT ISLAND BAY
In Memonam" Presbyterian Church, Island Bay, was opened at 3 p.m. on the Dth .October,' 1898', service bein" conducted by the Key. J araes Paterson Moderator of the Presbyterian Assembly so runs the 25-year-old official record It is intersting to note, therefore, that the little church has attained its semijubilee. The church at that time was i? , T c,?*FS e of St. James's, under the Key. William Shirer. Later it. w-s joined with Seatoun as a home mission station Five years ago it was raised to the status of a sanctioned charge, under Rev. J. M. Thomson, M.A. Special services will be held to-morrow to celebrate the event, the Rev. W. J. Comrie, Moderator of Assembly, conducing the morning service, the Rev. i!liam bhirer the afternoon service, and the Rev. Dr. Gibb, of St. John's, preaching in the evening. A social will be held ofi the Wednesday following.
