At the Police Court, John Chererton Kersey, a bankrupt accountant, formerly of Cambridge and Te Awamutu, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for failing to keep proper books. The Magistrate said it was not a case of an ignorant man; bankrupt was an experienced accountant whoanust have known the necessity of keeping proper books. The Official Assignee had been at a great disadvantage in trying to administer the estate, owing to the absence'of proper books, and creditors must hare been affected a good deal.
