Marama's stokers, sentenced on 25th August to a month in gaol for disobeying the master's commands on the high seaii, was granted a rehearing and released, after serving seven days. He was on. his_ first" voyage, and was unable *° go "against the majority, being incapable of stoking without an experienced man nearby. After the. stokehold crew refused duty he informed the captain hsjwas willing to work, .but had £een led by the unionists. ' His sentence ■was reduced to seven days, to enable him tpj accept, work on another vessel.
