(Received 4th September, 11.30 a.m.)

SYDNEY, This Day. The absence of respirators is forming the subject of criticism many people contending that at least the rescue parties would have been assisted if respirators had been available. Owing to the disaster, the 'Chinese footballers suggested the postponement of to-day's match, but the Maitland officials preferred that the match should be played, and the gate receipts donated to the distress fund.
