PITIFUL SCENES AT FUNERAL
BELIEF FOR. DEPENDANTS.

SYDNEY, 3rd September.
The following is a corrected list of the names of the men whose bodies have been recovered from the Bellbird mine: —Richards, Griffin, Mills, Locking, Hynes, M'Laughlin, Stewart, Graber; Morgan, . Hyams,' Sneddon, Roberts, Kelly,; Chapman, and Lambert. The bodies still in the mine are those of Corns, Hartley, Fone, Bailey, Moody, and Brown.
Fully twenty thousand people attended the funeral of the victims. All the schools and business places in the district were closed, tho latter being draped in mourning. The bodies were collected by hearses at the various homes and taken to the Memorial Hall, where a service was held, after which two motorlorries conveyed the coffins to the cemetery. The scene was the most pitiful ever-vwitnessed locally. The entire route to the cemetery, a distance of two miles, was thronged. The Government has decided to make available immediately £250 for the relief of the" distressed. The "Sun 1* and the. "Evening News" newspapers have both started funds. The lodges of the Cessnock district have decided that all employees give one fortnight's shift pay to the distress fund.
