LETTER OF APPRECIATION.

LONDON, 17th July. . Sir Henry M'Jlahon, chairman of the Management Committee of the British Empire Exhibition, has sent to Captain T. E^ Donno a letter of reeret at the letter's retirement from ■ the "high Commissioner's Office. It is dated 10th July, and runs:— ■
"Dear Captain Donne,—At the meeting of the Management Committee to-day we learned to our great regret that, as you had retired from the; secretaryship of the New Zealand Office, you would no longer represent the High Commissioner on our committee. The committee' asked me to convey to you a very cordial expression of our appreciation of the services which you have rendered on the committee, together with our best wishes for your happiness in retirement.—Believe me, yours very sincerely, (signed) A. Henry M'Mahon. . . "P.S.—I cannot refrain from adding a word of personal regret at your leaving us. All good luck to you." ■ Many inquirers are asking:, Who is. to succeed Captain Donne in .the Exhibition work for New Zealand? Most people express the view that his ■ experience in such connection has been unique and highly successful, and that his successor may not be easy to find.
