While bending, over a child lying on a berth, Miss Swain looked up suddenly, and by some mischance the glass of a porthole encased' in its brass hoop, fell on her head, with some force. It is stated that, although the accident happened only a fortnight ago, and no bruise was visible on the injured lady's head, yet she has lost the sight of both eyes.
