PLUNKET MEDAL
CONTEST IN ORATORY.
The annual Plunket Medal contest, is to be' held by the Victoria ■ University College Debating Society in the Concert Chamber next Saturday evening. There will be eight competitors, each of whom will deliver a speech on a subject chosen by himself. The competitors this year are: Messrs. Baurae (speaking on Father Damien), Davidson (R-abji^anath Tagore), Forde (Julius Caesar), Free (Signor Mussolini), Heron (Napoleon), Hjorring (Ferdinand--de Lesseps), Hurley (Captain Scott), and Yaldwyn (Abraham Lincoln). The winner of the contest will be determine^ by a board of three judges, the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward the Hon. Mr. Downie Stewart, and Mr G. G. G. Watson. .The Plunket Medal contest, since its inauguration seventeen years ago by the late Lord Plunket, then Governor of New Zealand, has been a feature of the activities of the Victoria College,,and a k-rge attendance is anticipated. ■ . :
