THE GOLD BASIS LOAN
FRANCE SAYS IT IS ILLEGAL.

PARIS, 10th August. The Government takes the view that Heir Cuno's proposed new international loan on a gold basis would violate the Treaty of Versailles. It points out that the Reparations Commission has power to seize the contributions.
