LONDON, 6th August. The Channel swimming season has opened. Henry. Sullivan, the American, started from Dover on his seventh attempt. At. the latest report he was six miles from Cape Grisnez, and goIng well. Mrs. Corson, another American, started later, with her husband accompanying her in a rowing boat, with a gramophone to encourage her. A third competitor, a Frenchman, named Per:ault, starting '. from a point east of Cape Grisnez, abandoned the swim after twelve hours, when be was five miles from Fblkstone.
