DEATH FROM ASPHYXIATION

CHRISTCHURCH, 6th August. Joseph Martin Gilchrist (aged 79) was found dead at his home under circumstances pointing to death from asphyxiation, caused by the inhalation of gas. His wife left th'o house at 2 p.m., and on her return found him sitting on a chair with a rug over his head. Gas had been led .under the rug by a pipe.
