MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE FAILS

AUCKLAND, 4th August. In the' Charge of-manslaughter against John Leonard Lambert Smith, arising out of the death of the boy Maurice Jon°son, who wag knocked down by defendant s motor-car on 9th May. "the jury found a verdict of not guilty. They asked his Honour to impress on defendant the necessity of' being more careful. His Honour said that lie was sure that this was impressed on his mind by the proceedings.
