NEW YORK, 2nd August. vice-President Calvin Coolidge hid been spending a summer holiday on his father s farm in Vermont, many miles from a railway station and telegraph, and a day had elapsed before he was informed of President Harding's illness, but. after that he kept in touch with ban Francisco by telephone. Although he becomes automatically President of the United States, Mr Coohdgo will now probably proceed to Washington, where the oath of • office will be administered by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
