TO-MORROW'S CEREMONY
PARLIAMENTARY PARTY, LEAVES
TO-NIGHT.
Ministers, members of the Legislative Council, and members of the House of Representatives, accompanied by their .wives and daughters, will leave for the South this evening by the ferry in order to be present at the opening ceremony of the Otira tunnel to-morrow. Amongst those -who will make the trip are Sir Joseph-Ward and Lady Ward, the Hon. R. M'Kenzie, Mr. Evan Parry, representative of the British General Electric Company, and several prominent Government officials. The Ministers present at the ceremony will be the Prime Minister (the- Right Hon. W. F. Massey), the Uon; j. G. Coates (Minister of Public Works)', and the Minister' of Defence (the Hon.- Sir R. Heaton Rhodes). On arrival at Ohristchurch, the party will travel by special train to Otira. and the official ceremony will occupy about two faonrs; -On returning to Christchurch in the evening, the visitors will be entertained.at a banquet by the Canterbury Progress League, and some members of the party will return by ferry steamer. Th©; remainder of the party will return on Monday.
