JEAN GERARDY TO-NIGHT.

M. Jean Gerardy; the famous Belgian 'cellist, will make his final appearances in Wellington to-night and to-morrow afternoon in the Town Hall. The Gerardy concerts have undoubtedly.been the most delightful conceits of recent times, and all who have the slightest love of music should not fail to attend these concerts. His music is inspiring and stimulating, and is a strong factor in the advancement in musical taste in the Dominion, for his playing appeals and attracts not only the music student, but those whose tasates are attracted in. other directions. The first performance in New Zealand of an important British work will be a feature of to-night's programme.M. Gerardy will play for the first time here Sir Edward Elgar's Violoncello Concerto in E Minor. The distinguished composer's musio is well known in New Zealand through hi s oratorias and orchestra works, and musicians are indebted to the eminent 'cellist for an opportunity of hearing his latest work. Other items to be performed include: Serenade (Sitt), Valse Leute (Boellmann), Vito (Popper), Le Cygne (Saint-Saen3), Hungarian Rhapsody (Liszt-Popper), etc. Miss Essie Ackland and Mr. George Stewart M'Manus will be the supporting artists. For the matinee to-morrow afternoon, the programme will be decided by pop.ular selection. Items should be sent to Mr. E. J. Gravestock, at the Midland Hotel. The box plans are at The Bristol, and the day sales at the Blue Bird Confectionery.
