■ MELBOURNE, Ist August, Hoods in Cliarlton rendered many families homeless. Relief trains have been dispatched with assistance. _Boats are being used in the streets of Rochester.
The Adelaide to Melbourne express was derailed through the collapse of a culvert near Glenorchy. Although the train was travelling at 30 miles an hour, with a hundred passengers aboard, no casualties have been reported.
