M. Jean Gerardy, the world-famous 'cellist, who is attracting crowded'houscs at liis concerts in the country, returns to Wellington to-morrow for two concerts in the Town Hall, to-morrow niglit and Saturday afternoon, at 2.30. A special feature of to-morrow night's programme, wliich will be of special interest, not only to students o[ music but the music-loving public in general, will be the performance for the first time in New Zealand of Sir Edward Elgar's violoncello concerto in E minor. M. Gerardy holds the work in the highest esteem, and considers it is one of tho most important additions to "cello music of recent years. - Other items include Serenade by H. Sitt, Boellmann's "Valse Lente," Popper's "Vito," Saint-Saens 1 exquisite little tone-poem "Le. Cygne," and Listz-Popper "Hungarian Rhapsody." _ Miss Essie Ackland will be heard in new songs, and Mr. George Stewart M'Mamis in new piano items. The final concert will be given on Saturday afternoon, at 2.30, when a "request" programme will be given. . Requests should be sent to E. J. Gravestock, at the Midland Hotel.
