MISS AMY CASTLES.

Miss Amy Castles had only completed two years of her four years' contract at the Imperial Opera House, Vienna, when the Great War broke out. but she had already established herself'as one of the greatest dramatic sopranos in Europe. At the special request of the Queen of Holland she journeyed from Vienna. to The Hague to give a series of concerts with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. It is not generally recognised that Miss Castles is the youngest artist who ever received the commission of appointment as chamber singer to the Imperial Court, and that she is one of only three foreign born prima donnas on whom it was ever conferred. Miss Eileen Castles preferred to make her career in America, where she won great success in the lighter roles of grand operas and on the concert platform. She has sung the part of the Doll in the "Tales of' Hoffman" over a hundred times in U.S.A. and Mexico. Alberto Torzillo (harpist), and Charles Tuckwell (pianist), who are also supporting Miss Castles, are musicians of high standing in Australia. The box plans lor the three concerts commencing at the Town Hall on Saturday, 11th inst., will be opened on Monday next at The Bristol. Students may reserve at half price.
