DIFFICULT TASK
DEALING WITH FRENCH
REPLY
BRITISH CABINET OPINIONS
(DXITED PRESS .ASSOCIATION.—COPTRiaHT.)
(AUSTRALIAN • NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.i
(Received 2nd August, 1.30 p.m.)
LONDON, Ist August.
The Cabinet had a three hours' session to-day, deliberating on the French and Belgian replies, and will resume again to-night. It is believed that an .influential and substantial minority, if not an actual majority, of the Ministers has already come to the conclusion that further correspondence with France is useless, and that the British Note should bo published. The "more moderate view of the Cabinet, however, inclines to formally notifying France of the Cabinet's attitude, leaving M. Poincare to reply or not, a s he thinks fit. If Britain decides to send a separate reply to Germany, some sort of way will be left for France to associate herself with the British policy if she desires to do so.
