In moving the adoption of the annual, report and .balance-sheet', m yesterday's,. "Post,'.', .the^president said that" the position -was much'bettethan ever it had'been in the 1 association's history. The membership spoke for ;itself. They also "took some credit' upon themselves ■ for the ' introduction of the' •new -Housing Act: ■ They wanted facilities given for house-building and they wanted; the Public Service Act amended.: In an,interview the Prime Ministerihai stated ;that if the Act were amended<'it-' would be reviewed from the short title to the final clause, though the principleof non T p6litical control would be'mairitained. At present they thought^it best to-leave the matter, but personally he was of the opinion that the present ?was\ a:good time c t6 obtain.any amendments which , were ' possible. He had 1 been pleased to meet many . delegates^, in his* visit to the provinces, andihad'r.managedi to obtain some for ::lighthou6s-. keepers to ''communicate their- needs through the Marine Department. -, i. That tha'.Gbverrinient be requested to amend the Public Service Classification and Superannuation Apt, VI9OB, so as to. provide that; any contributor whose sal-ary-may be reduced through no fault of liis own be allowed to contribute to, andi to have his retiring' allowance computed on, the increased rate of salary. That there be.aniincrease in the pensions to widows, either through an increase in the contribution _of contributors, or through-the reductipri.inCan. officer's retiring (»!ld>vance (at his" option). •That allowances in the nature of salary^ may be-regarded as salary:.for superannuation purposes. :,:'.'.
