The Dusseldorf. correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" reports that the German police at Essen arrested five Germans who were caught cuttinE the French military telephone lines. This is the first instance of German authorities arresting culprits in the occupied • territory, and the fact that they handed tha men over to a French court-marial is taken as indicating a better understanding between the muncipal Government and the occupational'}' forces.
The leader of the squad was sentenced to death at Aix la Chapelle. Count yon Keller is a former engineerofficer of the Prussian army. He was sentenced to be shot for trying to wreck a train.
