TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
Tile Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. . The Hon. T. D. Fleming gave notice of his intention to introduce the Clutha River Empoweiing Bill. The Hon. Sir K. M.itchelson moved the second reading of the St. John's College Trust Bill. The Bill was read a second time. The Hon. J. Craigie, of Tiinaru, was sworn in as a member of the Council. The Leader of tha Co'iii'.-H, Sir Francis Bell; moved a resolution of sympathy with the Eon. Major 1). Hani's. V.1)., who has resigned from the Council on account of illness, nnrl in doing so, said it was hard to part with a" man who v-as honoured amongst them, and one who had set an example to them all. Major H.-irris was a man with a Divine gift of humour, who could always see. the humorous side of a thing. The Hon. O. J. Garland seconded the motion, which was carried. The Council then resumed the debate on the Addicss-iu-Repiy. (Left sitting.)
