LARGE CINDERS TRAVEL 30 MILES.
(Received 21st June, 9 a.m.) HOME, 20th June. The flow of lava from Etna has subsided slightly, but the volume of smoke and vapour has increased, the whole sky being darkened. The villages of Palomba and Santo Spirito have been completely destroyed. Large cinders have ialleu thirty miles north-east of the voli cano. One of the main branches of the lava has readied the outskirts of Linguagiosaa and Castiglione, but the stream is moving more slowly, and hope is enter- . tamed that the towns may be spared. The King has arrived at Catania.
