EVERYBODY'S. THEATRE.
A pict-urisation of the well-known Apocryphal story, "Judith of Bethulia," produced by the famous director, D. W. Griffith, was presented for the first _ time at Everybody's Theare last evening. The romance of the Old Testament is dealt with in reverent fashion. Holofernes, a prince of the Assyrians, is sent with a mighty host against the strong walls of Bethulia, which is placed under a state of siege. Before long the people of Bethulia are hard-pressed for want of water, and they cry aloud to their captains to surrender. When all hope seems to be gone Judith, the widow of Mannasses, volunteers to visit the camp of Holoferne3 and slay him. Her dangerous .mission is successful, and she returns to Bethulia with the head of the prince. Encouraged by this, the army of Bethulia ventures forth and routs the Assyrians, who are sadly demoralised by the loss of their leader. Blanche Sweet takes the part of Judith, and the role of Holofernes is filled by Henry B. Walthall. Another attraction on the programme, is "The Idle Class." a comedy in which. Chai-lea Chaplin is featured. The supporting films are also of a high standard.
