STEAMERS UNABLE TO CALL.

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Kaikoura will be cut off by road from Christchurch for at least three weeks. Meanwhile coastal vessels are still unable to work Kaikoura owing to the heavy 6eas. The Cygnet, which arrived at Lyttelton to-day, was only able to land mails and newspapers at South Bay. Those mails were taken aboard at Lyttelton on Sunday. Meanwhile the Wakatu is waiting at South Bay for the sea to moderate at Kaikours. Motorcars at present are restricted to a fivemile radius round Kaikoura.
