LYALL BAY QUEEN CARNIVAL

A children's party in connection with, the Lyall Bay Children's Floral Queen Carnival was held hi the Anglican Church Hall last evening, when the function was well attended by children and parents and friends. Games, etc., were indulged in; also dancing. The chief interest centred in the announcement of the result of the queen contest, which resulted as follows :—Miss Maisie Hall (Committee Queen), 6386 votes, £79 16d 6d; Miss Joan Palethorpe (Sunday School Queen), 6361 votes, £79 10s 3d; ivlis,s Gwen Hollings (Guild Queen), 6138 votes, £76 14s 6d. The total amount equalled £236 Is 3d, anil this, together with other donations a.nd functions, will assure the laying of the foundation-stone of the new church on St. Jude's Day v The vicar, the Rev. A. T. B. Page, thanked those present, especially the organisers of the carnival, Mrs. Rudkin and Mrs. Moran, and all {hose ladies and gentlemen connected with the various committees; also the secretary, Mr. Carr. The. result hacJ been highly satisfactory, and reflected great credit upon those responsible. A waltzing competition was won by Miss Ruby Hall and Miss Nita Moore, and a guessing competition by Miss TJ. Shannon. The coronation will take place at an early date.
