FOR THE BEST SHOTS

BBTIVAL OF KING'S MEDALS.

(tWITSD FREES ASSOCIATION.—COPXRIBHT.)

(AUSTRALIAN . NEW ZEALAND CABLI ASSOCIATION.)

(Received 9th May, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, Bth May.

Earl Haig, as president of the Rifle Association, has induced the King to revive the King's Medal at Bisley in July for the best shot in the Army. The medal was instituted by Queen Victoria in 1869, but was discontinued as the Army was distributed over the world. Earl Haig proposes the issue of six medals annually, for the Home, Indian, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, and South African Armies, and that battlefiring conditions should be devised by the General Staff. The British competitors will be limited to one' hundred, half representing the Army and half the Territorials.
