EXIT THE COLOURS

BOWLING CENTRE'S DECISION

IN FAVOUR OT REVERSION TO \ PENNANTS. ]

The red, white, and blue competitions \ did not prove very satisfactory to bowl^, t?_rs generally last season, and the Wel*j lington Bowling Centre last, night car-! ried a motion by Mr. J. S. Keith, oft the Victoria Club, recommending thatf next season a reversion be made to thai' old pennant competitions. ;

Consideration of the matter arose! from a suggestion put forward by Mr* R. J. Barnes, of Hataitai, that the red.whife, and blue competitions should h& rearranged so as to give a complete compulsory change of actual players for. each game. By actual players he meanU those who played, not those -who were* merely selected. Such a scheme wo\il<t vc'omote harmony amongst .club members, and would relieve the burden oa the shoulders of match committees.

It was pointed out that the points made by Mr. Barnes had been considered; when the colour competitions were first! being discussed.

The subject was debated at soma langth. and eventually the following motion by Mr. Keith was carried:--"That it be a recommendation from the centre that the inter-club games of next season be four rinks from each club, two rink 3 away and two at home, to be known as the Pennants." •■ - -

The president, Mr. F. Maadowcroft. mentioned that Mr.; J. P. Smith,. of Napier, was in Wellington, and was to give a demonstration of his methods of levelling eTeens on the Lyall Bay Club's green, as soon as the weather suited.

The secretary. Mr.' R. W. Shallcraas, thought that if the weather was suitable) Thursday would be the best day to visit Eyall Bay. On behalf of Mr. Smith he invited all Helegates to watch the demonstration.

Mr. Keith drew attention to the fact' that a new cluTi was beir>i; formed afc Wanganui., which was beingl called iha Victoria Club. Whilst his olub did not claim to be the owner of the name, he thought it was unwise to have two clubs of the same name when it could so easily be avoided.

It was decided to write to the Dominion Bowling Association pointing outf what wa3 being done.
