ED WICKET INQUIRY.

(II TIUSRAFI.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 8* May. The inquiry in respect to the allegations of watering the Lancaster Park wicket on 25th. February in the Canter-bury-Wellington Plunket Shield match was held before members of th_e New Zealand Cricket Council to-day. It lasted the whole day.

Evidence was given by Collins and Hiddleston, members of the Wellington team, to the effect that the ground was watered, but they madoi no allegations as to by .whom. \

In the course of the hearing. H. Vagg, caretaker of Lancaster Park, withdrew his intended, libel action against Collins.

Canterbury representative* admitted that the wicket had been swept and rolled, lrat said it' had not been watered. „ . ...

The officer in charge of the magnetic observatory at Christchurch gave evidence to show that there was a very heavy dew on the Saturday night and that there might have been a light shower.
