MAORIS AND THE LIQUOR QUESTION

WANGANUI, This Day. A big gathering of Maoris at Ratana Pa, from all parts of the Dominion, discussed matters of importance to the welfare of the Native race. The meeting was a success, and testimony to Ratana's good work was much in evidence. Among the resolutions passed was one to petition Parliament, praying that the franchise on the liquor question be extended to Maoris, especially as Indians, Chinese, and other coloured lfcople_ from abroad, on entering the Dominion, are allowed to vote on this question.
