INTERCESSORY SERVICE
A fitting atmosphere of reverence and worship characterised the citizens' intercessory service held in the Concert Chamber, Town Hall, at midday. Mr. H. W. Kersley presided, and suitable prayers were offered by the Rev. C. Eaton and Messrs. J. Priestley and L. A. Brunton. . The chairman read the Scriptures in the 72nd Psalm, and further portions were read as follow : —3rd Chapter Malach'i, by. Mr. E. P. Hay, and St. John, 17th Chapter, by Mr. C. Brown. Mr. W. H. Hindle accompanied oh the piano several community hymns, which were heartily sung.
