BANDITS DERAIL A TRAIN
MANY FOREIGNERS PRISONERS.

PEKIN, 6th May. A thousand bandits, supposed to be disbanded troops, derailed and attacked the express from Ptikow to. Tientsin at, Lincheng, Shantung, and carried off 300 passengers, including a number of foreigners. 1 One- foreigner is reported to have been killed and two Chinese to have been seriously wounded. Six foreigners and 23 Chinese escaped.
The Government has sent a special train to iii vestig&te and has also telegraphed to the provincial authorities to take immediae steps to suppress the bandits and obtain the release of the captives, owing to the effect of the incident upon foreign relations. -
