TIME TO ACT
MATTERS FOR LEAGUE OF
NATIONS,

LONDON, 6th May,
The League of Nations' Union passed unanimously a motion expressing the opinion that, in view of the German offer, the time has arrived when Britain ought .to suggest that the' questions of reparations, the inter-Allied , debts, the security of. frontiers, ajid the limitations of armaments, should be referred to the Council of the League, and that Ger'rhany ahould immediately ba invited to join the LeagueT .
The League of Nations Union' also passed a motion that, in view of the Saar Commtesion's motion, the Council of the League should reconsider the" membership of the Commission.
■ Sir John Simon, in the House of Commons, asked recently whether the League 'of Nations Council in March adopted a proposal to issue a decree by the League, as the responsible body under the Versailles ;Treaty for the administration of the SaaT district, making, it an offence punishable by fine or imprisonment to criticise publioly the Treaty of Versailles or -the action of the League and what , action the. British representative took. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. ,S. Baldwin, replied that the statemtni ''■was substantially correct.
