ADMIRALTY COURT
CLAIM AGAINST THE ZITA.
(IX TILIStAM.—FRISI ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, sth May.
A claim for £130 lls 9d, money advanced, was made in the Admiralty Court to-day by Hubert Alexander Rhind, agent, of Lyttelton, trading as Rhind and Co., against the. ship Zita, owned by Zita, Ltd., Wellington. The case was heard by Mr. Justice Adams. Mr/ F. D. Sargent appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. W. J. Sim for the defendant.
The facts, as .stated by the plaintiff, were that about eighteen, months ago the Zita was unable to leave Lyttelton by reason of the inability of the master to meet the claims.for wages and. other charges against her. Plaintiff made certain advances. After her departure from Lyttelton, the Zita did not return to the port for a considerable time, although plaintiff had been promised that she would be sent to Lyttelton with payable freight: When recently the Zita did return to Lyttelton, plaintiff found that another agent had been appointed for her. Mr. Sargent stated that the owners had called a meeting to discuss liquidation.
His Honour, after hearing argument, said he would give judgment on Monday. ,
