HOSPITAL v. V.M.C.A.

The HospitalY.M.C.A. match was played at Porirua. The ground was in good order after the heavy rain. A great deal of interest was taken in the : came, and although Hospital showed they were the superior team, winning' by 5 goals to 2, the game was well ■ contested, and generally Was a splendid exhibition of Soccer. Both teams Were at full strength. Hospital attached at the start, and were looking; dangerous' when. Campbell cleared with a heavy kick. The V.M.'s backs, Pearson and Bryce, Were both shaky during the opening period, but improved considerably as the saroe progressed. M'Arthur set V.M.C.A. forwards or. the. move, arid Smith. Trott, and Campbell, took part in a nice passing rush. The latter kicked wildly, however, wlwn in a good position. A free kick against Hospital for "hands" led to disaster, as.Pearson placed the kick to Campbell, who made a nice opening- and passed to Trott. The latter sent in a bsautiful long.shot,'which completely beat Hardie. V.M.C.A. 1, Hospital 0. The game, which had been fairly quiet, became fast after this and . the exchanges were keen. Hughes, with a solo run made a fine effort to equalise, but Bryce blocked the way. A shot from Kissock brought Taitaht into action with' a epod save.
