Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., presided afc the Magistrate's Court to-day, when police and maintenance cases were heard.

Two first offenders for drunkenness were each fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, while four other similar offenders were ordered to forfeit the amounts of their bail, 10s in each case. Edward Murray, with two previous convictions for insobriety, was 1 fined £1, in default three days' imprisonment.

Jack Guy Bagger was fined Ss. in default 24 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness, and was fined £2 for using obscene language.

Charged with vagrancy, an elderly Irishman named Frederick Lyness, alias Lyons, was convicted and OTdered to come up for sentence when called upon. Major Greenfield, of the Salvation Army, undertook to look after him.

A young Australian named Max Edward Millbrook, charged with receiving £2 16s 4d from Mrs. E. F. Moore, on terms requiring him to account for. the money to George Thomas and Company, and failing .to account for it, was remanded until Monday, bail being fixed at £300, or two securities of £150. Senior Sergeant Lander said that further charges of a similar nature were pending against the accused.

Albert James Rawstrom, whoso arrears totalled £57 10s, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, warrant to be suspended so long as he pays £1 10s per ,• week.

Sidney Alfred Smith, with arrears amounting to £126 12s 9d, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, warrant to bo suspended if 15p per week is paid.
