CITY v. CENTRAL.
There were a few spectators to witness the game between City and Central on Saturday. The ground was very soft after the rain, but there was some fine play on both sides. Ten minutes after the kick-off the first try was scored by Jack Cook, an Auckland League player, who now dons City's colours. After a forward rush by City, Cook mad© a fast run and gathered in the ball well and scored. The next quarter the play was even on both sides. Three minutes before half-time, Cook saw a fine chance, made a brilliant run from his twenty-five line, side-stepped all opponents, and scored comfortably between the posts. The score at half-time was: City 6, Central 0. After the interval City had the wind with them, and Salisbury scored. Central put in some fine rushes, but were stopped by the attacking backs. The , final result was: City 9, Central 0. One fault on both sides was too much talking. Mr. Campbell was referee.
